Sparwood Has A Sister City!

Sparwood Sister City Agreement
Clicking around the District of Sparwood’s website led me to a page about their Sister City. Did you know about this? Did you hear about this?

The Sister City is Kamisunagawa in Japan!

In 1980 they agreed to “strive for industrial, economical, cultural exchange, and at the same time with the sincere desire to promote mutual understanding and friendship between the two cities shall endeavor to international goodwill between Canada and Japan, and with the firm belief that it will contribute towards the peace of the world, do hereby pledge to cooperate one with the other as sister cities on this 23rd day of September in the year 1980.”

Now that’s a beautiful thing. I wonder if the student exchange program is still in the works.

Sparwood BC's Sister City in JapanYou can almost see why they’re sister cities...almost like twin cities.
