An Evening Showcasing Fernie’s Creatives

Last night Fernie showcased some of it’s finest at two separate events – Fernie Banner Project Launch and Read Local BC at Fernie Heritage Library.

The Banner Project is an opportunity for local artists to show off their work downtown Fernie and, eventually, along Highway 3. The artists (jewelery makers, painters, glass blowers, potters etc) are so different, both in age and styles, and I’m always so thrilled to be part of it.

Stories From The Summit – I was a bit late and had to deck out early but I was glad I stopped by the library to check out the discussion and readings from two local authors : Angie Abdou and Gordon Sombrowski. They were talking about writing in Fernie and how it has impacted their work. We also got a little glimpse into their works in progress, which was my favorite part.

A great evening with so many people putting their work out there, which is a very brave thing to do.
