The Arts Station Is Looking For Instructors

Arts Station Workshop Instructors - arts, paintings, creative projects

The Arts Station is a cool place to be and to find people who share a love of creative expression. Maybe you have a little something you want to share with others? Maybe you want to introduce a special project with the rest of us? I’ve often thought about doing  a mini workshop but it also terrifies me…so I probably won’t just yet. But you should!

Closing Businesses & CBT

What a strange year it’s turning out to be. A couple more shops are shutting down this year, Vitality Body & Mind and The Play Room, kind of unexpected for the rest of us – perhaps, not so unexpected for the owners. This on top of the other businesses – Kelvin’s Kitchen and Four Cubs who already said their good-byes.

It’s not an easy town to start a business in and the ones that last a long time are considered the lucky ones. I’m just guessing but I gather you need to prepare for really busy and completely dead and not expect one year to be anything like the last.

There are resources in the area to help and advise. CBT offers a free service to businesses    in the Kootenays called Basin Business Advisors Program. Something to consider, as they’re highly recommended and running a business can be difficult.

Common areas of support include:

  • financial analysis;
  • marketing;
  • operations;
  • business and strategic planning;
  • human resources;
  • competitive analysis;
  • target market analysis;
  • general business viability

Spinners and Weavers Guild – Saori Workshop

Saturday and Sunday 7-8th April, 9-3pm

Saori is hand weaving that emphasises creativity and free expression. No rules, no fear – just pure absorption and immersion into weaving and working with yarn and threads. This ‘non-technique’ is meditative in nature and aims to build a clearer expression of your human self from the process itself and the resulting handwoven cloth.
