I’ve been needing a little time in my day to clear my mind, my mind is always racing, and I just thought I’d share this little video I found. I took a short Qigong class in Fernie in 2010, and graduated with honours (or did I just get wave goodbye and a friendly “thanks for coming”…) Every so often I’ll whip out (so slowly) some Qigong moves that I remember and it helps. It really does.
Side note, I think that’s what I most appreciate about mobiles. I’ve been all about mobiles for a long time and now I’m trying to design mobiles with a friend….where was I, when I came home from a bike ride one night last week I looked up at the simple rock and stick mobile in our carport and I watched it as it slowly rotated around. In that moment, I felt so relaxed and at peace.
Alright. Just in case you were wondering “How does she survive?” This is how. Also, if you do watch the video, the guy who pokes his head around the corner is my favourite. He makes me laugh every time.
A friend of mine is starting these Hot Yoga sessions at Vitality Body and Mind starting November 5th and November 7th. I highly recommend giving it a try. She’s got some series experience and she’s lovely.
True Axe Timber Crafts makes stunning hand-crafted furniture, outdoor details and architectural structures from wood. I first became aware of Chad’s work when I started to go to Vitality. A few of Chad’s mirrors are on display and they really stood out to me. Really nice work that, one day, I will invest in. True Axe’s website.
Menta Sewing Studio is located 591B 2nd Ave. – all kind of alterations are welcome. I became aware of Menta at the markets and then I recently saw that she has a small studio downtown where she creates her clothes and decor. Very creative pieces that are very well made. Menta’s facebook page.
The Castle on First – Yoga, Pilates and Dance. I first posted a poster about The Castle on First when Sam was promoting her yoga classes and then I saw online that they are much more than yoga on Thursdays. They are scheduling a variety of yoga (including yogadance), pilates, latin dance classes, ballet conditioning and more. Check out their facebook page for all that’s happening at The Castle.
Secret Businesses aren’t very secret, they’re just new to me and I’m passing on the information like a good blogger.
Awake – The Life of Yogananda
Saturday, April 11, at 7pm at The Arts Station, 601-1st Ave
Hindu mystic Paramahansa Yogananda brought yoga and meditation to the West in 1920 and authored the spiritual classic “Autobiography of a Yogi.” By personalizing his own quest for enlightenment and sharing his struggles along the path, Yogananda made ancient teachings accessible to a modern
audience. This documentary examines the world of yoga, modern and ancient, East and West and explores why millions today have turned their attention inward, bucking the temptations of the material world in pursuit of Self-Realization.
