My Daughter Draws Dragons

Once my daughter starts on something, it’s way on. When dragons entered her life, there was no turning back to ponies or unicorns. Dragons is all that matters now! I do wonder what will come next. Fruit, perhaps.

My child loves drawing dragons.

Cardboard Baby Shark Boat In Fernie

You know what I love? Wholesome, good fun. Building a cardboard boat for a cardboard boat race that never was but just getting in that boat and taking it across the lake anyways – that’s wholesome, good fun!

Two boys (and a bit of adult help – not me) designed, built and painted this baby shark themed cardboard boat and what an amazing job they did. The blood in the eyes and teeth were brilliant details.

Cardboard Baby Shark boat launched at Maiden Lake in Fernie, made by Jude Galway and Nefin Barlow. Canada Day fun in the mountains.

And beyond the physical appearance of the boat, it was built well, too. That Baby Shark went across the lake and back with very little water inside. I’m proud of those kids and the wholesome, good fun they had.

And, plus, all the kids and families that biked by, entertained by the cardboard boat slowly making its way across the lake was probably worth the time and effort.

Next time, the date, especially the year, on the event page should be double checked.

The Arts Station’s Mini Banner Project For Kids 5-12 Years Old

hiThe Arts Station is planning on decorating their newly renovated space with some amazing kids’ mini banners and I think it’s a great idea. My daughter has completed her banner and is excited for me to remember posting it in the mail.

It’s quite simple, if your kids are interested in participating.
You just head to this page and download the banner template. Print it. Fill it out. Draw on it. Mail it back. The only tricky thing is if you don’t have a printer at home, this will add an extra step. If you don’t have one, just send me an email and I can print a copy for you, as long as you come pick it up from my house!

It’s due June 20, so there’s still a good chunk of time to get it done.

Celebrating Fernie Women – Courtney Haeusler

I don’t personally know Courtney but I do know many families who have enrolled their kids in Outdoor Connections’ forest school and have loved it. Courtney started and leads (with a team of amazing women) this amazing forest school so kids can get outside and connect with nature, learn some skills and feel comfortable exploring in the wild, in all types of weather. How lucky are our valley kids to have this option?!

Follow Courtney and her team, as they play and explore outdoors, on Instagram or find out more about Outdoor Connections and all the other programs that are offered.
