Fernie On Instagram – Private Art Lessons

I get a little nervous before I do something I haven’t done before. Even when it involves teaching a 5 year old! You just don’t know what to expect. But I was pleasantly surprised during my first private art lesson how keen my little student was. He wasn’t even phased by my kids plan for watching tv. He tried so hard to understand some fairly complex ideas and we are both looking forward to the next lesson. This makes me so happy! I took a little page from my husband’s book on teaching kids how to mountain bike – show them how to bike by biking with them and making it fun.

Fernie On Instagram : Lazy Lizard With The Family

We took the kids and an extra friend on a Lazy Lizard bike ride yesterday and I really enjoyed a few things about it. I love the trail, the flow of climbs and descends make the trail manageable, it’s busy (which some people won’t like but I do because I feel like there’s enough noise around to keep the wildlife away) and the kids can do it. It’s my kind of bike ride!

Birthday Weekend At Loon Lake

There’s nothing like celebrating a birthday with amazing friends, camping at a local lake. The “local” part is important because we ended up camping with about fifteen extra Fernie families, on top of our group of 5 families, and the kids came home with their cups full and passed out for 13 hours. Everyone left the campground happy, even my husband who had to go to the hospital for 5 stitches on his finger.

Camping is one of the only ways I can completely relax and let go. My phone was off for four days and that felt amazing. The kids were busy and happy with new and old friends. The lake was glassy smooth and clear and the campfire roared for hours each night. Life is truly good.
