“Does your child love coming to visit Daphne, Sher and Cowboy? Don’t miss the chance to get some Christmas photos with them next weekend! Santa and Mrs. Claus will be arriving at 2:30-4pm! Sunday, December 10, 12-4pm at the Fernie Courthouse.”
From City of Fernie’s website:
Join us as we kick off the holiday season and ‘Light Up The Night’ at the Fernie Courthouse on December 6th, 2017.
Stop by between 4pm and 7pm as we flick on the festive lights on the Courthouse grounds.
The evening fun will feature a Ghostriders Hockey Team pep rally, entertainment, food, fires and an opportunity to get your photo taken with Santa.
Bring your skates and enjoy skating on the outdoor ice rink (weather dependent) that will be built on the west lawn for the event!
Rod and I aren’t much for getting dressed up all slutty like and calling it a costume (I’m just kidding, we love it. we just thought we’d save it for Christmas) but we did enjoy carving faces in our pumpkins, roasting the innards and visiting Eric and TP for a bonfire/bbq/dominos night.
On my way back from a meeting I found these carved pumpkins at the courthouse.
The community has mixed feelings about the Fernie Courthouse but I find this building quite stunning, both in and outside. The main floor is dedicated to BC Government Services, such as issuing Marriage Licenses, and upstairs is where the courtroom is, which I haven’t seen yet…and hope I don’t have to unless it’s just to see what it looks like.
The size of the building would suggest that inside it is bustling with activity, but it isn’t. I rarely see anyone parked in the parking lot and when you walk in, you feel like you need to whisper, as if in a library. There must be more happening in this building. Is it storage? If so, it’s a beautiful storage space. If they’re looking for people to fill it up, I’d love to take up a room and blog all day long in there. I’ll take the second door on the left. Perfect. Thanks.
