Call to Artists (by Fernie Museum)
This call to artists is for the upcoming Fernie Artography exhibit at the Fernie Museum, the third of four exhibits being presented as part of the Canada 150 Cultural Series by the Fernie Museum and the Fernie Arts Station.
Fernie Artography explores the human and natural landscapes in and around Fernie that help define the psyche of who we are as a community, including buildings, abandoned buildings, streetscapes, cultural landscapes, human landscapes (your backyard, garden, community parks, paths/trails, etc), and natural landscapes (mountain vistas, rivers, forests, and valleys). Perhaps, you’ve been to Fernie and wondered about the old buildings or heard about the fires that ravaged the town in the early 1900s. Perhaps, you are a history buff. Whatever reason you might have, Fernie Museum is promoting guided walking tours this summer starting July 4th.

From Fernie Museum – Last year’s event was a huge success so we would like to invite you back. Celebrate the Scottish Bard with a night of festivities, fun and food while raising funds for a good cause. You are invited to the 2011 Robbie Burns Day Party at the Fernie Museum on January 22nd, 2011. Doors open at 8:00 pm and we will continue until 12:00 am.
Tickets are $50 or $90 for a couple – Available at the Fernie Museum (advance sale only) Proceeds go to benefit the Fernie & District Historical Society and the Fernie Writers Conference. Tickets include appetizers, two drink tickets, entertainment, a wee bit o’ haggis and chances at door prizes. There will be a cash bar.
