From Elk Valley Festival of Trees Facebook page:
“What is Elk Valley Festival of Trees about? Well the beautiful TREES!
This is a three week fundraising event that will become a must-see holiday tradition in the Elk Valley. We will proudly display 10 of the most dazzling Christmas Trees for all to admire this side of the North Pole. Open to the public, the festival invites visitors to browse through the holiday display and cast a ballot for their favourite tree.
Fernie Rotary’s goal is sponsoring this event is to raise a large amount of funding for multiple community organizations across the Elk Valley at one time.
How does Elk Valley Festival of Trees work?
A business sponsors a tree and chooses a local community organization/not for profit or charity to work with. Together with a Tree Designer, the business and the chosen community organization will decide on a theme for decorating the tree. They will all come together to decorate the tree.
The local community organization can raise a significant amount of funding through several ways:
1) a GRAND PRIZE – People’s Choice Award of up to $1000 (based on 10 trees sponsored) for the tree that receives the most votes.
2) For each vote a tree receives, the community group/not for profit/charity will receive $3.25.
3) During the three week period the trees will be part of a silent auction. Minimum bid will be $500 and 100% of the tree auction proceeds will go to the sponsored community organization.
*Funds raised in the Elk Valley will stay in the Elk Valley
Come out and enjoy the many events taking place during the Elk Valley Festival of Trees and vote to support the local community organizations/not for profits/charities!
Looking forward to seeing you there!”

Golf season is just around the corner and the Fernie Rotary Club is in preparation for this year’s Charity Tournament. Scheduled this year on May 12th it is the first event of Fernie’s golf season and a great way to begin the year.
As you are aware, the intent of this tournament is three- fold; to raise funds to support local programs and services to the Elk Valley, to be a fun event for participants from near and far, and to showcase the hospitality and generosity of Fernie’s people and businesses. Golfers enjoy 18 holes of golf, followed by a silent auction, live auction, dinner and dance.
The recipients of this year’s funds will be the East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s “A Clear View” Campaign and Shelter Box Canada. The EKFH’s “A Clear View Campaign” is raising money to purchase a digital stereotactic mammography unit for Cranbrook’s Hospital. This unit will enhance the detection and care of breast cancer patients throughout the East Kootenays and the Elk Valley. ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter, warmth and dignity to people affected by disaster worldwide
The success of our tournament is a result of the generous support of local businesses and individuals such as yourselves. We are once again soliciting your support as we look forward to hosting the eleventh edition of our tournament. In addition to the many benefits of sponsorship the club will recognize your generosity at the event, encouraging golfers and others to patronize your business. A list of contributors will be published in the newspaper and your business name will appear on the place mat used at dinner.
We have the following great options for support:
Hole Sponsor with 1 golfer – $300
Hole Sponsor with 4 golfers – $575
Mens and Ladies Closest to the Pin – $200 each
Mens and Ladies Closest to the Line – $200 each
The Fernie Rotary Club would like to thank you in advance for your support. If you would like to contribute to our efforts, or if you are interested in playing in the Tournament, please contact Aysha Haines at (250) 531-3999 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
