We needed a fun morning adventure on Monday morning so I took the kids and their bikes to the bridge along Coal Creek Road and introduced them to the miniature horses Sher, Daphne and Cowboy. Phoenix, being almost 4, loved them and wanted to stay all day. It was a struggle getting them away from the barn so we could go home…and then the cats came out.
The owners of the horses don’t want anyone coming by with treats but visiting the horses and giving them a good bum scratch was definitely encouraged. We will be back!

When I moved here back in 2009, or was it 2008…, I did not picture Fernie changing the way it is today. A new executive retreat? Heaven’s Gate? Montane? The Cedars? and probably more I don’t know about. I thought this was a small town that no one had heard of – I certainly had no idea what a “Fernie” was when Rod told me had moved to here.
Anyways, I’m not against progress, but I’m interested to see how all this development will impact the community.
