This came on in my Discover Weekly playlist and I immediately stopped what I was doing and clicked into my Spotify. Rubblebucket. Never heard of them but this song stood out. I’m going to have to do more research. I hope you’re enjoying your Monday. My day started off with a nice walk about town and a little conversation with a local RCMP officer about a man exposing himself in town this morning. Hmm!
I’m trying to get out of the house and my kids just mess around and mess around. I gave up. I threw my mittens on the floor, flung my toque away and put my coat on the ground and then walked downstairs…not calmly. Now I’m writing this post, so you have my kids to thank for this one! Perhaps Million Dollar Loan can calm me down, although I think, if only the kids will get ready, a walk in the woods would be a very good idea right now.
The Zolas came to Fernie years ago. I remember seeing them at The Northern, back when we could leave the house without paying a babysitter. They’ve done quite well for themselves since then. Here is a song they put out in 2016 called Why do I Wait (When I Know You’ve Got a Lover) and I lover it.
Neko Case almost made me cry big ugly tears when I saw her perform in Vancouver ten years ago. She has a strong, beautiful voice that fills a room…and my heart. Neko Case has a new album out and the first song I heard Hell-On did not disappoint. Enjoy your day!
If you want to take me back to being in my early 20s, play a little Hayden for me. I’ll be transported to “the good old days”. A time when I’d spontaneously drive with a friend up to North Bay where my brother lived and went to school. A time when laying on the ground on our backs listening to music was all we needed and wanted to do. A time when little things mattered – a touch on the shoulder, eye contact from a stranger, dancing alone in an empty bar with your eyes closed.
The Weather Station released their latest album last year. This is my first listen. Enjoy with me!
A new find, a beautiful voice, some nice tunes. Phoebe Bridgers. Sometimes I need a soft acoustic guitar in my life.
