It’s hard to tell when you look out the window but summer is here and school is out. My posts will be less frequent, now that my kids are home full time. I must admit, I do miss my computer and my creative time that I was blessed with every Monday-Friday during the school year. Six blissful hours to do whatever I wanted, which was almost always drawing, writing and working on new projects. But, it’s not just a transition time for the kids, it is a transition time for me too. To get my mind out of the office and with the kids, it’s not always so easy.
I hope you’re enjoying your summer. We have a few fun things planned but nothing too crazy. Being in Fernie in the summer isn’t so bad. Zip line park, tadpole catching, clay diving, tennis, park playing, mountain biking, hiking, Wednesday socials, markets and beach time. Everything is going to be alright.
Being away from Fernie really made me appreciate the little mountain town, especially now that the skies have cleared and the temperatures have gone down. Planning a trip in August was a good idea since August seems to be a time of campfire bans, smokey skies and suffocating heat.
Driving back felt good and now it’s September 1st, a new school year. I feel refreshed. Let’s do this!!
Wednesday, July 4th at 5:30. Station Square, The Arts Station in Fernie. Food trucks, beer tent, kids activities and live music. Let the summer begin!

Thank goodness for these cool mornings or I’m not sure I would go running at all. I guess we’ll find out if the temperatures start to increase beyond 21 degrees. I’m wondering what other people do in the middle of summer – do you run only in the morning or at night when it cools? Do you even get drained by the heat? As soon as that sunlight hits my skin I want to stop running. I go from full tank to RED LIGHT ALMOST EMPTY within seconds.
Let’s hope the mornings stay cool so I won’t have to invest in a cool misting fan head strap contraption.
