Love is in the air

The Old Elevator Brunch & Private Parties

The Old Elevator Restaurant Fernie
Rod and I went to The Old Elevator for brunch on Saturday morning (we’re becoming regulars) mainly because their breakfast menu is so ridiculously tasty and different and not any more expensive than anywhere else. yuuummm…the potatoes and garlic. After we licked our plates clean, I had a quick chat with Chef Paul about private functions at their restaurant…

Here are a few numbers and details:
• Yes, they do private function.
• Building capacity is 90, for the whole venue – the main floor has been turned into a dance floor in the past.
• For just the bar, there is room for 32 people.
• To reserve the upstairs section, there is a 40 person capacity.
• Custom menus can be designed for your budget.
• The atmosphere is funky, and comfortable and recently renovated.
• The Old Elevator provide catering services, as well. More details on that later.

Puff Pastries by Chef Paul at Fernie Tea and Coffee House

Eating Puff Pastries
Only because I enjoyed this pastry SO much did I document it using my built in laptop camera and then post it on the blog for all to see. It was purchased at the Tea and Coffee House this morning along with a fresh cup of coffee and found out it was made by Chef Paul of The Old Elevator. I didn’t know he was a pastry chef. Now I do and so do you. Maybe you should take notes and discover the joys of eating a puff pastry for breakfast.

I get an F on today’s posts … for food.

Old Elevator winter menu launch

Last night Rod and I had the pleasure of previewing and eating from the 2009/10 winter menu at The Old Elevator Restaurant. Julie Tremblay was a friendly and welcoming host to the menu launch and after a few “what-do-we-do” minutes, we felt as comfortable as being in our own kitchen. A very large lemon drop martini was enjoyed, as well as, amazing delights as they floating around the room. Most of the night was spent in the updated bar and lounge room with a more spacious and sophisticated design; it’s amazing what a little change can do to a room.

The evening was a celebration of good food, great people and new beginnings. It’s going to be a great winter!

What was involved:
• The Old Elevator – 291-1st Avenue, Fernie
• E-invite
• An acoustic guitar duet – I’ll get their names.
• The Old Elevator Chef and staff
